Cultivating Dreams is actively seeking an experienced farmer for hire at its location at 18 Meadow Road in Hopewell Junction, NY. In this rewarding role, the farmer will schedule, implement, and monitor indoor and outdoor activities centered on planting, growing, and harvesting naturally grown fruits and vegetables. This position involves teaching adults with special needs pre-vocational agriculture skills. Required Skills
The farmer for hire must have the following required skills:
- *Two years experience at a farm or a commercial gardening center.
- *Ability to work in all weather conditions and the ability to operate tools and equipment.
- *The knowledge to schedule, implement and monitor indoor and outdoor activities centered on planting, growing, and harvesting naturally grown fruits and vegetables while working with adults with special needs.
- *Ability to operate a seed-to-harvest growing season both with greenhouse and in-ground planting seasons.
- *Knowledge of succession planting.

Located in the heart of Dutchess County, Cultivating Dreams Farm provides a holistic farm-to-table experience emphasizing pre-vocational agriculture and life skills, while fostering community inclusion. This fun, skill building experience is available to people being supported through Community Based Services (CBS). Participants have the opportunity for hands-on experiences gardening, growing fruits and vegetables, and taking care of small animals. Our activities are designed to be meaningful and to provide each person with enhanced self-advocacy skills and a greater sense of purpose in the community.
